Parents of preschool-age children in the Neenah Joint School District can now request developmental screenings online on the District website.
Parents can simply fill out the online child find screening request form to schedule a screening appointment. Appointments can still be scheduled by phone by calling the Taft Early Learning Center at 751-6980 (ext. 101) if you do not have internet access. The screenings are free and typically last one hour.
A child find preschool screening can answer many questions about a child’s development. The purpose of the screening is to provide you with developmental information on your child and to identify children who may need access to the programs in the Early Learning Center at Taft Elementary. Children must be between the ages of two years, nine months and five years old for the screening.
Children will have their speech, language, concepts and motor skills screened. They are screened at three different stations by early childhood teachers and a speech language pathologist. While the children are being screened, parents are asked to fill out a questionnaire about their child’s social-emotional and self-help skills. Upon completion of the screening, all results are shared with parents.
Screenings will be done the first Friday of each month (Feb. 7, March 7 and April 4). The screenings will be conducted at Taft, though the Early Learning Center will move to Washington Elementary School for the 2014-15 school year.
