What is the HOPE program?
HOPE is a mental health and wellness program that provides elementary students in the Neenah Joint School District (NJSD) parent peer advocacy and on-site mental health therapy. NJSD has partnered with NAMI Fox Valley and Catalpa to provide the following services to our Neenah children:
NAMI Fox Valley: NAMI Fox Valley provides a Parent Peer Advocate who will offer one-on-one support and resource connection for parents and guardians of students with mental health concerns or questions. A Parent Peer Advocate is an individual who has personal experience navigating mental health resources for their own child and has received extensive training in providing support to other parents. The Parent Peer Advocate for the HOPE program will meet with parents at a time and location convenient to them. These discussions can range from discussing diagnoses, treatments, school, therapy or whatever else would be helpful. The Parent Peer Advocate can be contacted through your school counselor or by calling (920) 931-2905.
Catalpa Health: Catalpa provides an on-site mental health therapist for grades K-6 schools. On-site therapy allows our students who seek treatment the means to do so without leaving school. Therefore the student misses less class. In addition, the therapist able to consult with teachers and school counselors more easily since they are based at the school.
