Thank you for making Phase II and Meet the Rockets an outstanding event!! 

 

A group of students, administrators and teachers implemented the idea of Phase II and "Meet the Rockets" The students worked hard to make this a success. The night started out with the annual "Meet the Rockets" by having the boys basketball team scrimmage against themselves and then end with a slam dunk contest and a three point contest. The varsity team asked for two Neenah School Specials Olympic athletes to compete in the three point contest with the varsity players. The athletes were paired up with a player from the boys basketball team and they both went head to head to see who could make the most shots. Then the boys basketball team asked three other Special Olympic athletes to be the judges for the slam dunk contest. 

 

Then, Neenah Schools Special Olympic skills team was paired up with a varsity buddy to show of their basketball skills. The skills team participated in a dribbling and shooting event with their varsity buddy. Then, something special happened during the shooting event. Each athlete attempted a jump shot and every skills player missed their first time through, then the second time through all the athletes made their second shot first try!! 

 

The night ended with the Neenah Schools Special Olympic Basketball team taking on a group of Neenah High School teachers. The Neenah Schools won the game against the teachers 30 to 21!!

 

When the clock ran out the whole students section rushed the court and congratulated the athletes on a job well done!
