The Neenah Joint School District Board of Education approved the purchase of a new west side property and the sale of another at its July 16 meeting.
The purchase consists of approximately 225 acres on the south side of Winchester Road (County Trunk II) and east of Clayton Avenue. The District will purchase 150 acres from one landowner and an adjacent 75 acres from another. The property is located in the Town of Neenah and the total purchase price will be approximately $3,375,000. There is a 90-day contingency on the sale. Additionally, the District will seek a realtor to assist in selling its 57-acre property in the Village of Fox Crossing at the intersection of West American Drive and Irish Road.
In other action, the Board approved the hires of several employees. Teaching hires include Janna Benton as cross categorical at the high school, Michelle Dovey as fourth grade at Taft, Ashleigh Jones and Stacey McGee as third grade at Coolidge, Karen Julian as speech and language at Washington, Brittany Kemp as cross categorical at Clayton, Jayne Latreille as a counselor at the downtown campus, Stephanie Lesperance as math at Horace Mann and the high school, Stephanie Mueller as English learner at Spring Road, Tullar and Lakeview, Amanda Schneider as cross categorical at Lakeview and Ruby Sollitto as social studies at Shattuck and the high school. Non-certified hires include Sarah Ebel as health assistant at the high school, Keri Gretebeck as an educational assistant at Lakeview, Kelsey Keller as an educational assistant at Coolidge and Victoria Olenski as an elementary educational assistant.
Resignations were approved immediately for high school teacher Kimberly Kargus-Myers, Roosevelt speech and language pathologist Nicole Lang, downtown campus teacher Landon Lawson, Washington teacher Sandra Miller, Horace Mann operations staffer Curtis Dallaire, high school community outreach assistant Elizabeth Zerrien and Hoover principal Melissa Chrisman. The Board also approved a transfer for Josh Murnane from high school activities director to Horace Mann social studies teacher.
The Board reviewed the District's academic standards for 2019-20 and Dr. Pfeiffer provided an update on the first of four community engagement sessions, held on July 15 at Spring Road.
The next meeting is set for August 6 at 6 p.m.
