The 2019-20 staffing plan was approved by the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education at its March 19 meeting. The plan was approved as presented at the previous meeting on March 5.
The proposal includes a net 1.06 FTE increase. Additions include two cross categorical positions due to increased special education needs across the District. The proposal also adds a fifth grade teacher at both Lakeview and Coolidge to account for a third section of classes at that level at each school. A half-time sign interpreter is also proposed for an incoming 4K student. For decreases, an special education assistant is no longer needed for an incoming ninth grade student and the Transition Learning Center will be discontinued at Shattuck. There is also a decrease of a 1.44 FTE, primarily at Horace Mann due to the departure of a large sixth grade class, and 0.4 FTE in the grades 4-6 magnet program due to fewer students qualifying.
In other action, Emily Berceau was hired as a school psychologist at the high school. An end-of-year retirement was approved for Coolidge Educational Assistant Sueli Pardo and an end-of-year resignation was approved for high school and Horace Mann teacher Sam Engelland. Board Policies were approved for the use of District facilities, process of adopting bylaws, the clubs and activities programs and Board member compensation.
The state champion girls hockey team and state runner-up boys hockey team were honored for their recent success. Communications Manager Jim Strick discussed the District’s referendum communication plan for the next two weeks and also revealed the 2019 District Hall of Fame induction class, which will be officially announced soon.
The next meeting is set for April 2 at 6 p.m.
