The annual at-risk plan was approved by the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education at its September 18 meeting.
The plan is similar to those in past years with some changes. Most notably, the goals for the upcoming year will narrow the focus on increasing student success and the graduation rate. Additionally, a research-based evaluation will be used to identify gaps in programming and culminate in a three-year plan for at-risk programming later this school year.
The Board also approved policies in regards to weapons on school property. Discussion ensued in potentially amending the policy to permit staff members to have unloaded weapons locked in a case and in a vehicle on school grounds, but the Board decided to keep the policy as recommended and not allow this provision.
Resignations were approved for Shattuck educational assistant Marie Luebke and District mechanic Brian Bain, both effective October 12. High School academic assistant Robin Grable was approved for a cross categorical position.
Director of Facilities/Engineer Adam Krieger provided an update on summer maintenance projects. The Board also recognized high school senior Danielle Eaglin for her second place finish at the world sub-junior powerlifting championships in South Africa this month. State representative Mike Rohrkaste and state senator Roger Roth attended the meeting and presented Tom Berven a legislative proclamation to celebrate his 48 years at Neenah High School’s boys tennis coach. Berven retired after this past season.
The next meeting is set for October 2.
