Beware of Phishing Scams
|
As you know, there has been a significant increase in Phishing scams appearing in your email inbox. The firewall and filters we use to guard against these types of intrusions capture over 99% of the attacks targeted at NJSD email and systems. Our goal is 100% and we work hard to hit that number but occasionally something gets through.
Your email and password combination has "permissions" to log into District network and systems like email, other Google systems, Infinite Campus, Schoology, etc. When you have approved credentials, the Firewall lets you through. The issue is -- when you click on a link in a Phishing email and fill in your email and password, you have just given the "Phishers" an unblocked key to your network accounts and all the permissions that come with your email, Google Drive, Infinite Campus, Schoology, accounts. When we know this has happened we can change your password, but if we don't know it happened, your account and our network may be compromised.
Additionally there is a significant cost associated with this behavior. Members of the Technology Department are spending hours and hours reacting to Phishing scams that are happening, because we (staff) keep clicking on the links and entering personal information. So...
NOBODY EMPLOYED AT NJSD WILL EVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, OR OTHER PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION EVER -- AS IN NEVER!
If the Technology Department should need credential information to troubleshoot a technology issue you have reported, you will be contacted in response -- to your contact of us.

W-2 Wage and Tax Statement Information
|
Please login to Skyward between November 17 and December 31 to choose the delivery method for your 2016 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement. The District is encouraging every employee to elect the electronic form of delivery for this important tax document. Those electing electronic delivery of this statement will be able to login to Skyward, download their statement and have it immediately in early January. If you choose to have your statement delivered in paper format, it will be available for you to pick up at District Office starting the last week of January.
To select your W-2 delivery method, go the NJSD website, click on "staff resources" in the upper right, scroll down to "Skyward" and login to Skyward (or just click here). Your username and password should be the same as your computer login. Once you are logged in, you will immediately be prompted to select your W-2 delivery method - you can choose, paper, electronic, or you can ask to be reminded again later. You will have until December 31 to make this choice.
If you choose electronic delivery, you can print this statement at your building. If you have any questions, please contact Pam Jaenke via email or at extension 10106.

Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving
This holiday season, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urges you to plan ahead: designate a sober driver. If you plan on drinking at all, don’t plan on driving. Don’t assume that you’ll know whether you can safely drive or not at the end of the night.
Drivers, please remember these tips to avoid a DUI and keep our roads safe:
* Even one drink can impair your judgment and reaction time and increase the risk of getting arrested for driving drunk or having a crash.
* If you will be drinking, do not plan on driving. Plan ahead; designate a sober driver before the party begins.
* When you know you’ll be drinking, leave your keys at home or give them to someone else.
* If you have been drinking, do not drive — even a short distance. Call a taxi, uber, phone a sober friend or family member, use public transportation.
* Walking while impaired can be just as dangerous as drunk driving. Designate a sober friend to walk you home.
If you see a drunk driver on the road, contact local law enforcement when it is safe to do so.
If you see someone you think is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them get home safely.
Remember, it is never okay to drive after drinking. Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.
