A recent safe driving online voting campaign netted Neenah High School a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance.
Neenah was one of 100 winners nationwide, including one of 50 among large schools, in the “Celebrate My Drive” competition. The program had 3,283 registered schools as individuals were asked to log onto a website to make a pledge toward safe driving. Each e-mail address was permitted one vote per day over a 10-day span in October.
“This was a fun event for our school to rally together and earn some free money,” said Neenah High School Principal Brian Wunderlich. “We are extremely grateful to State Farm for running this program which had the added benefit of teaching our students and community some important safe driving tips.”
Neenah is required to invest at least 10 percent of the grant on a teen driver safety program for students. Neenah plans to use the remaining funds to remodel common areas in the Armstrong wing for student use.
“State Farm is proud of Neenah’s efforts to generate excitement among students, faculty and the entire community to make safe driving commitments and have positive conversations about teen driver safety,” said State Farm Public Affairs Specialist Kelly Savage. “We appreciate all of the wonderful support of the program to help reduce teen crashes and save lives.”
Neenah High School made the announcement to its students and staff on Dec. 2 and include local State Farm agents Josh Carter and Dave Mader. Final vote totals and standings are not available. A complete list of the 100 winning schools will be available on www.celebratemydrive.com on Dec. 15. |
