Health and Wellness Center Updates

NJSD staff are encouraged to make appointments at the Health and Wellness Center. Walk-ins are accepted, but those with appointments will be served first at the time of their appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 844-616-3556. If you have questions about the Wellness Center, you may dial ext. 26000 from a District phone (please do not use this number for appointments).

Vaccinations at the NJSD Health and Wellness Center are for ages 11 and older. No one under age 11 may get vaccinations at the clinic. Appointments for children six months and older are for acute visits only and well-child visits are for ages 7 and older. Shingles shots and HPV vaccination need to be scheduled two or more days in advance.

Also, if the vaccination is not preventative (such as Heptatitis A for traveling outside the US), it will have a fee since insurance will not cover these. For those who do not have Humana insurance, there will be a fee for all vaccinations and then it can be submitted to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Wellness Center Hours:

Tuesday - 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday - 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Friday - 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Alumni Tailgate Party Set for Friday, Oct. 14

An alumni tailgate party will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m. inside Neenah High School near the cafeteria. The event is open to everyone and benefits the high school Arete Academy, which is organizing the event and selling food. Retired teachers have been invited and the 2016 NJSD Hall of Fame inductees (Tom Berven, Dr. Wellington Hsu, Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, Jean Kessler and Pat Westphal) will attend. The event will run following the homecoming parade until the kickoff of the football game at 7 p.m. The parade takes place at 5 p.m. in downtown Neenah.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings Scheduled

Youth Mental Health First Aid has provided our District with a wonderful opportunity to enhance conversations regarding the mental health of our youth. In addition, this training has helped our staff, parents and other community members help youth get the mental health and/or alcohol or other drug abuse related resources they need to be successful.

If you are a non-certified and/or support staff member who does not require a sub and have not yet had the opportunity to participate in this valuable training, NOW IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!  Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings have been scheduled for October 25, November 10, and December 15.  If you are interested in joining the more than 175 staff who have already attended this training, please contact Chris Christensen at cchristensen@www.neenah.k12.wi.us. Hurry, because seats are limited and will fill up fast!.

Elementary Tech Club Meeting on Oct. 13

All elementary staff are invited to the "Tech Club" meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 4-5 p.m. in room 200 of the administration building. The intention is to get a group of elementary classroom teachers, special education teachers, principals and educational assistants together to share technology ideas, answer questions or help with differentiation. New people are always encouraged to attend and share ideas!

Winter Sports Game Workers Needed

The winter sports season is starting soon and game workers are needed to supervise, time, score and announce at boys' and girls' basketball, hockey, wrestling, and boys' swimming events. The pay at this time is $11.40/hr. for supervisors and $12.75/hr. for timers, announcers, and scorers.

If you would like to work at a winter athletic event, please fill out the attached sheet by checking the date(s) you can work and the position you prefer. Please return to Lisa Dohr at ldohr@www.neenah.k12.wi.us by Monday, Oct. 31. The final schedule of workers will be distributed after that date.

EP and PDP Support Group Meeting on Oct. 13

The EP/PDP District Support Group is a newly formed group designed to aid anyone who falls under PI-34 licensure requirements and is currently working on or completing a PDP. This group is also designed for any staff members who would like guidance or time working through their EP for the year. The purpose of the group is to provide time to collaborate and to supply resources to assist in the process. The first meeting will be Wednesday, October 13 in Room 201 of the administration building.

Anyone who is completing either an initial or professional PDP, or working on their EP, who would like some guidance should attend the meeting.

Neenah Students Featured on FVA Website

Two Neenah students were featured as the FVA Spotlight Athletes of the Week on the FVA website:

Read more about seniors Morgan Schreck and Nathan Piotrowski by clicking the links.

Also, from a previous addition, check out one of the responses from three-sport athlete Tommy Beck from Oshkosh West High School:

Favorite place to play on the road in the FVA? All around I would say that Neenah has a great pool to swim in, a great track to run on, and not only that but Neenah puts on a great cross country meet!
