NEW classes at NHS!

We are launching the new AP® Computer Science Principles and AP® Computer Science A in 2019-20. Next fall, we will add AP®  Statistics. Additionally, ninth grade English classes will become Pre-AP®  English 9, which will better prepare all students for advanced level work.

CLICK HERE to learn more about Computer Science  Principles, which is open to students in grades 9-12.

Click here to learn more about Statistics, coming to NHS in 2020-21.

Important: if you are in an AP class, you are automatically registered to take the exam in May (and you're responsible for the $95 payment).

If you do NOT want to take the exam, you and your parent/guardian must complete the OPT-OUT form (get one from your AP teacher) and return it to your teacher NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 30.

What's changing for AP this fall???

You may have heard that there are some important changes being made to AP programs throughout the country. There are exciting new resources for teachers and students, but there are also a few adjustments for all of us.  Take a moment to review the PowerPoint at the right (2019-20 Changes for AP Students) or click HERE.

You may also find an overview in this handout.

Feel free to email the Coordinator  if you still have questions not answered by either resource.

AP® scores are NOT mailed to you. Students need to create a free account at College Board, and will access their scores online when they are available in July.  Students who are enrolled in AP courses for fall of 2019-20 will also need to have a College Board account. Here's where to start... CLICK to create your account.

Thinking about taking an Advanced Placement® class?  CLICK HERE to explore AP® and find out how AP® classes can help you in college. A video overview of AP® from a student's point of view is available HERE (less than 4 min.).

Does your student have documented accommodations for taking tests? Those accommodations may not automatically be approved for AP® exams.  Check with Ms. Torres (x16123) in the Guidance Office if you have questions about your student's status. Obtaining approval for accommodations is a lengthy process which needs to begin by late fall in order to meet College Board deadlines. All paperwork is due to College Board by January 17, 2020.

HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS AND STUDENTS FROM OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS:  We welcome you to test at NHS SUBJECT TO AVAILABLE SPACE and SUBJECT EXAMS being administered in a particular year. Not all exams listed will necessarily be administered. Be aware that College Board policies allow for additional fees to be charged for students not attending NHS.  Beginning in 2019-20, exam orders will be placed in the fall. You should contact the Coordinator by September 16, 2019 if you wish to apply to take AP® exams at Neenah HS in the spring of 2020.

Click UW Help  Here is a helpful online credit wizard to determine what credits your exam scores will give you at every UW campus!
