Neenah High School Band Program
The Neenah High School band program has been a staple of the Neenah Joint School District and surrounding community since its first year of music-making in 1929. Thanks to a generous donation by Helen Kimberly Stuart (of the Kimberly-Clark Family) instruments were purchased, and the first Director of Bands, Mr. Lester Mais, was appointed with a full salary and housing stipend. Under Mr. Mais’ leadership, the program quickly grew to offer multiple levels of instruction and expanded to include the grade school.
Today, the band program is full scale with high quality offerings in all departments - 3 large concert bands, 3 traditional jazz big bands and a jazz combo, marching band, chamber ensembles, symphony orchestra, musical pit orchestra and modern show bands.
NHS is proud to host one of the only comprehensive in-house private lesson programs in the state of Wisconsin, where students meet with their teachers for one-on-one instruction during the school day.

Suzuki Program
The Suzuki program is an involved lesson program for students on Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass. It involves a weekly commitment of a paired private lesson and a group class. The program is free to all Neenah residents and NJSD students. The only cost for students is obtaining an instrument.
