Spring Road Wins Community Running Challenge Award
< Back
Spring Road Elementary School in Neenah earned first place in the medium school division of the School Specialty School Challenge for participation in the recent Community First Fox Cities Marathon events.
It marks the second straight year Spring Road has won the honor, which awards the school a $1,000 gift certificate from School Specialty. The prize is presented to the school with the highest percentage of students participating in the Fox Cities Marathon 5K and children’s run events. Schools are divided into large, medium and small based on the size of the school.
A group of 23 students from Spring Road consistently trained throughout the summer for the race under the leadership of teachers Roxann Barrow, Diane Luft and Lisa Marker. Even more students signed up for the race on their own. Many of the students’ parents and family members also trained with the group and ran the event. |
