A full week of free family activities benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation will highlight the Neenah Joint School District Homecoming Week set for Sept. 28-Oct. 2.
The week begins on Mon., Sept. 28 as Cherry On Top in downtown Neenah will donate 15 percent of all proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A family drive-in movie will be shown in the main parking lot in front of Neenah High School on Tues., Sept. 29. The movie, "Big Hero 6" will display on the side of Pickard Auditorium and Broken Tree Pizza will serve food. The parking lot will open at 5:30 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk.
On Wed., Sept. 30, the public is welcome to watch the girls take the football field in the annual PowderPuff football game at 7 p.m. in Rocket Stadium. Jimmy John's has donated 500 sub sandwiches for the event.
A Parent's Night Out event is slated for Thurs., Oct. 1 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Children from grades kindergarten through sixth grade may be dropped off at Memorial Park. High School students will lead the children in a fun night of games and activities while parents enjoy a night away. Local restaurants Ground Round, Greene's Pour House, Cranky Pat's and Perkins will donate a portion of proceeds to Make-A-Wish.
Following the event, high school students will have a fifth quarter event at Memorial Park with games and activities. Food will be provided by local businesses.
The annual homecoming parade is set for Fri., Oct. 2 beginning at 5 p.m. at City Pool on Park Ave. The parade will head west on Wisconsin Ave. to Church St. A tailgate party will be held at Rocket Stadium at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity football game against Wisconsin Rapids at 7 p.m. The marching band will perform in the parade and at halftime of the game.
Besides the varsity football game, all events during the week are free. Donation buckets will be passed with all money raised being donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The week also features District-wide dress up days at every school.
