Veterans From Different Eras Visit Neenah Middle School Students
< Back
Veterans representing all major military branches and conflicts back to World War II spoke to students at Neenah’s Shattuck and Horace Mann Middle Schools on Nov. 7. The Veterans were from the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King and the Knights of Columbus.
Veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines participated in the first-time event. The schedule included veterans who served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The group featured individuals who survived the Holocaust, guarded the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, served in the Women’s Army Corps and Operations Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. About 20 veterans presented to students in social studies classes throughout the day at the two schools.
The event is part of the Service Alliance Uniting Together (SALUTE) initiative that is part of the Kimberly-Clark Employees Resource Group. The initiative provides support and outreach to local veterans and their families.
