Neenah Finance Bowl Team Places Second at State Competition

Neenah High School’s Finance Bowl team of Nathan Mulder, Jenna Butts, Trevor Nelson and Evan Thomsen placed second at the state competition in Milwaukee on April 30.
Neenah was among 14 schools that participated in the state meet after advancing from regional competition. They answered over 130 questions pertaining to personal finance, business finance and economics in a game show format. The meet was held at ManpowerGroup in Milwaukee.
Wilmot Union High School edged Neenah to win the state championship. Neenah has sent at least one team to state every year in the four-year history of the state finance bowl, winning the state championship in 2011-12.
Neenah had three teams compete at the regional tournament and all placed in the top four among the 24 participating teams. The top two teams advanced to state as Mulder, Butts, Nelson and Thomsen finished first and a group from Oshkosh North placed second. The Neenah team of Brett Ament, Ander Baumann, Josh Miller and Noah Butzen was third and another Neenah group of Devonn Penn, Lauren Penn, Kayla Pierce and Jessica Nussbaum placed fourth. Over 600 students from throughout the state participate in the state finance bowl tournament. |
