A first-of-its-kind event will be held in the Neenah Joint School District to connect elementary school parents with professionals from various local services and organizations.
Parents of students from Hoover and Wilson Elementary School are invited to attend the inaugural “Parents Connect Convention,” which will be held on Tues., Nov. 5 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Horace Mann Middle School. Presenters will cover a wide range of topics and include representatives from the Neenah Police Department, Boys and Girls Brigade, and the YMCA.
The purpose of the convention is to respond to the needs of families and connect them with professionals who can provide information, support, and resources necessary to encourage their child’s success. The event also aims to strengthen families through education, and foster relationships within the community.
Topics include:
- overcoming learning obstacles
- encouraging family fitness
- building solid relationships between children and adults
- balancing school and family activities
- providing technological tips
- discussing healthy eating ideas for parents
- parenting positively and productively
- keeping children safe and secure
The event is being organized by Wilson staff members Kris Martin and Tim Verboomen. Free child care is also being provided.
