A presentation on District insurance plans for 2020 was the main focus of the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education meeting on October 15.
The District is proposing to continue working with WEA Trust as its insurance provider for the upcoming year with a 5.5 percent increase in total costs. The main change will be adding another embedded plan with a $4,000 deductible for a single plan and $8,000 deductible for a family plan. Out-of-pocket maximums will be $5,000 for a single plan and $10,000 for a family plan. Premiums for the $4,000/$8,000 plan will be significantly lower for employees than current premiums. There are no changes to the dental plan.
Another significant change from last year is that premiums for those who do not complete the wellness incentives will be increased by 15.75 percent rather than doubled. Also, the proposal calls for ending the HSA contribution for retirees beginning in 2025. The insurance proposal will be voted upon at a special budget meeting on October 29.
District facilities director/engineer Adam Krieger provided an update on summer maintenance projects. The main projects were a new boiler and bathroom remodeling at Taft, roof updates at Coolidge and masonry work on the Shattuck façade.
In action items, the end-of-year retirement for elementary art teacher Amy Michaels was approved. Hires were approved for Steve Chovan as a high school technology teacher, Shannon Pokorny as an educational assistant at Wilson and Mike Duffert as an educational assistant at Shattuck.
The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for November 5.
