The Neenah Joint School District Board of Education passed three resolutions for the state legislature at its September 3 meeting.
The resolutions were adopted in cooperation with the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and will be forwarded to the Wisconsin Delegate Assembly. They address paying state equalization aid to school districts in four installments throughout the year, allowing districts to levy up to 50 percent of their safety and security budgets through local taxes and establishing a categorical aid revenue source for providing mental health related services.
The Board also considered a resolution for recruitment, training and retention of teachers in high-need areas, but was not unanimous in support of the entire proposal and decided to refer it back to the legislative committee for revision.
Hires were approved for Hannah Baugnet and Jared Krueger as teachers at Shattuck, Cynthia Keberlein as a literacy coach at Wilson, Andrea Mesa as a teacher at Taft, Ashley Hinz as an educational assistant at Clayton, Betsy Tesch as an operations staffer at Roosevelt/Alliance and Ashley Bath as principal at Roosevelt/Alliance. Leaves of absence were approved for Kristin Seidler at Neenah High School and Cherie Shusta at Coolidge.
Board policies for the process of setting future Board meeting agendas were also passed.
The next meeting is set for September 17.
