Neenah High School’s top senior students academically and athletically were honored at the Senior Class Award Ceremony as part of the graduation rehearsal on May 29 in the Ron Einerson Fieldhouse.
Jackson Vendola and David Xiao shared the Outstanding Math Student award, Frank Slavinsky earned the Outstanding Social Studies award, Emilee Wise received the Outstanding English Student award and Jerry Rott won Outstanding Science Student honors.
In world languages, Josie Cleveland was the top French student, Gabrielle Hewitt was the top Chinese student and William Newsome and Brittany Fahnestock shared top Spanish student honors. In music, Michael Murphy won the National Choral Award, Kjersta Lind claimed the National Orchestra Award and Rott received the John Philip Sousa Outstanding Senior Band Student Award. Kadin Yach won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, while Eddie Stuczynski and Robin Crooks received the Neenah Community Band scholarships. Lydia Larsen was named the Neenah Community Band outstanding senior and Lauren Fine received the Semper Fidelis Marine Corps Band award.
Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Student awards went to Vanessa Underhill, Savannah Ducommun, Rachael Luebker, Zeta Olson and Allyn Jones. Outstanding Art Student awards went to Autumn Magolski, Ingrid Rosauer, Hannal Meixl, Kaley Waters and Brianna Yang.
In athletics, Matt Meinke was named Male Athlete of the Year and Payton Hanselman was named the Female Athlete of the Year. For boys sports, Marcus Hickey and Joseph Murray shared the Jerry Gollnick Award and Sam Dietrich earned the Marlon Batterman Trophy. For girls sports, Reagan Obry won the Connie Lambert-Jan Wisehart Trophy and Abigale Fruendt received the Kim Dodge Spirit Award. The Mel Northway Award went to Griffin Congdon for boys and Frances Greene for girls.
Mason Morrow and Breanna Borgen were recognized for their nomination as WIAA Scholar Athletes. Eight students were honored for participation in three sports: Congdon, Dietrich, Hanselman, Hickey, Amanda Argall, Aaron Nussbaum, Trevor Oneacre and Grace Tollar.
