Neenah Schools to Implement Raptor ID School Safety Software
< Back
Visitors to all Neenah Joint School District buildings will be required to present identification during the school day beginning on January 22. The District will be implementing the “Raptor” school safety software program. The system was funded through a Wisconsin Department of Justice school safety grant awarded last fall.
The new check-in system runs the visitor’s photo ID through a security check prior to the visitor being allowed access into the building during the school day. The system will print out a visitor ID badge and create a digital visitor’s log. If the background check raises any concerns, an administrator will be summoned to address the concern. It is also important for visitors to check out through the main entryway to return their badges.
This system is in addition to the volunteer background check process that was recently put in place throughout the District.
“The Raptor system is another layer to enhance the safety in our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Pfeiffer. “It will be an adjustment, but we’re confident it will be a smooth transition and helpful to our staff to know who is in our buildings.”
Visitors must present identification such as a driver’s license or passport that shows their name, birthdate and photo.
