Seven Neenah schools significantly exceeded expectations and the District landed in the “exceeds expectations” category for the third straight year in 2017-18 school report card data released today by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
The District earned an overall score of 75.5 to gain its exceeds state expectations rating. Seven of Neenah’s schools were named in the “significantly exceeds expectations” category with Alliance, Clayton, Lakeview, Roosevelt, Taft, Tullar and Wilson earning that distinction. Four other schools rated in the “exceeds expectations” category as Coolidge, Hoover, Horace Mann and Shattuck earned that recognition.
Schools are graded on four priority areas: student achievement in reading and math assessments, student growth in year-to-year improvements, gap closing between specific student groups and on-track and postsecondary readiness. Overall District report cards also include attendance and graduation data. All Neenah schools have at least met expectations every year the report cards have been issued since 2011-12. The seven schools significantly exceeding expectations matches the most Neenah has had in a single year.
Each public school is graded on a 0 to 100 scale and it should be noted these scores are not a “percent correct” measurement. Tullar had Neenah’s highest score at 94.0 and Alliance had a 92.5 score to both rank in the top 50 of the 2,111 schools that received scores. Tullar ranked 25th overall and 16th among elementary schools, while Alliance was 45th overall and 30th among elementary schools. Three schools had their highest scores ever as Wilson rated at 91.7, Roosevelt scored at 87.6 and Taft posted an 84.5. Lakeview posted a 91.0 and Clayton scored an 85.6.
