Neenah High School junior Av Osero won her third straight WIAA Division 1 state girls diving championship at the state meet on Saturday in Madison.
Osero is the first Neenah swimming and diving athlete to win three individual state titles. It marks the sixth time in the past seven years that Neenah has had the state girls diving champion with Hazel Hertting winning in 2013 and 2014 and Greysen Hertting taking the 2012 title.
Osero led after each of the three rounds of competition and finished with a total score of 515.20. She posted a score of 511.50 in 2017 and 508.65 in 2016. For the second straight year, McKenzie Sanchez of Racine Case finished second. She posted a score of 493.45 this season.
Sophomore Bailey Schroeder finished seventh overall with a score of 387.85 as she and Osero accumulated 32 of Neenah’s 47 team points. Claire Eisele added a 10th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and joined Kara Cowell, Evelyn Lima and Payton Hanselman for a 13th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The Rockets finished 15th overall in the team standings.
