A full week of events will take place during Neenah High School’s 2018 homecoming activities Oct. 1-6.
The week begins on Monday, Oct. 1 with a free drive-in movie at 7:30 p.m. in the main lot at Neenah High School. The movie, Tomorrowland, will be shown on the side of Pickard Auditorium.
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, students in Key Club will lead a community service night. A "socktober" drive will be held at the girls volleyball match with discounted admission to those who bring socks to donate to a local homeless shelter. Powder puff football takes the field on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at Rocket Stadium with a team of female students taking on a squad of female staff members in the annual event. On Thursday, Oct. 4, students are invited to participate in a Neenah trivia and study night in the Armstrong Resource Center and commons area.
Homecoming day will feature the annual parade at 5 p.m. The parade begins at the city pool on Park Avenue and runs west down Wisconsin Avenue to Church Street. At 5:45 p.m., a tailgate party will be held in the high school hallway near Door 4 and the cafeteria. Burgers, chips and a drink will be sold for $3 per person.
Kickoff for the football game is at 7 p.m. in Rocket Stadium as the Rockets take on top-ranked Fond du Lac in a game between two teams currently tied atop Valley Football Association South Division standings. The marching band will also perform before the game and at halftime. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. They are available at the gate and will also be sold in advance in the activities office Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
The fourth annual Neenah Joint School District Hall of Fame banquet will be held on Saturday, October 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the Best Western Premier Bridgewood Resort Hotel. Tickets are $25 per person and on sale at the administration building through Sept. 28. Inductees Dr. Omar Atassi, Dr. Emma Jaeck, Dick Jorgensen, Harry Kelderman and Jill (Lieber) Steeg will also be honored at the parade, tailgate party and football halftime. The annual homecoming dance takes place Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the high school.
