Governor Walker Signs State Budget at Tullar Elementary
< Back
Tullar Elementary School hosted Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's signing of the state budget on Sept. 21.
Fourth and fifth graders from the school had the opportunity to witness the signing firsthand. Fifth graders were behind the Governor as he signed the budget and many of them received a commemorative pen for being a part of the event.
The $76 billion state budget includes an additional $639 million in funding for public schools. The budget was due on July 1, but has been delayed in the assembly and senate for over two months. Due to the delays, it is likely one of the first times the budget has been signed at a school.
Neenah Superintendent Dr. Mary Pfeiffer welcomed the Governor to Neenah for the second time in less than six months as he also visited Neenah High School in April.
After signing the budget Governor Walker walked through the halls of Tullar and high-fived every student from kindergarten through fifth grade.
