Lakeview Pajama and Hat Day Nets $2,250 for Hurricane Victims
< Back
A simple pajama and hat day at Lakeview Elementary turned into significant assistance for hurricane victims in Texas and Florida. Third grade students Macie Hall and Aubrie Vanevenhoven both previously lived in Texas and wanted to do something for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. They decided on a day where students could wear pajamas or hats to school for a donation.
On Friday, Sept. 15, Lakeview staff and families came through with an astounding $2,250 in one day to aid in relief efforts. The girls had advertised their event with posters and flyers and were hoping for about $100-$300. They also wanted to help those affected by Hurricane Irma, so the money was split between the Greater Houston Community Foundation and Kenny Chesney's Love for Love City Foundation.
