A four-year veteran Activities Director and Associate Principal, Josh Murnane has been selected for the same position within the Neenah Joint School District. The position is pending school board approval.
Murnane comes to Neenah from Green Bay West High School where he taught social students for six years before moving into his administrative position. He was also the school’s head wrestling coach for the past 10 years.
Murnane is a 2006 graduate of UW-Oshkosh and competed on the wrestling team in college. He also completed a Master’s Degree and Principal licensure at UW-Oshkosh. The East Troy native taught social studies for one year at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield prior to his tenure in Green Bay.
“Josh brings a student-centered philosophy to Neenah,” said high school principal Brian Wunderlich. “He is a strong relationship builder and has a passion for seeing students get involved and succeed. We are excited for him to bring those qualities to Neenah.”
Murnane will oversee athletics and activities programs at both Neenah High School and Shattuck Middle School. His duties will begin on July 1.
Neenah’s athletic programs have ranked in the top 10 among large schools in the WSN cup six of the past seven years. The award measures the state’s top-performing athletic programs in WIAA tournament competition. Neenah’s music and drama programs have also captured numerous state and regional awards.
Neenah has 22 varsity sports and four club sports. Its activities program includes over 40 different clubs as well as three drama productions and numerous concerts and other events. Neenah’s enrollment of 2026 ranked 12th in Wisconsin in 2016-17.
