New Staff Laptops are Coming!
|
New laptops are planned for all staff that are currently assigned a silver MacBook Air laptop! The actual dates of the roll-out are still to be determined as we are working out details with Apple. We are estimating the transition will occur in May after Forward testing has been completed.
Several highlights:
* It's new! (new battery = longer run time)
* 8GB RAM vs 4GB RAM (current Staff MacBook Airs have 4GB)
* 1.6GHz vs 1.3GHz processor = faster performance
* Help with the transition - We are planning printed material, video support
* Help with the transition - We are planning several in-person support times in your building and during the next PLD.
* Elementary carts of white MacBooks will be replaced/updated with new laptops
Same basic size and weight
* Finally - your laptop is not available for purchase
We are excited to be making new laptops available to staff and hope you are too!
Additional materials and information on this transition will be coming your way soon! Until then, you can get a head start on this process by:
* Move any data not currently in Google Drive to Google Drive as soon as possible
* Move photos, iMovies, videos off your computer and onto cloud services or portable devices
* Laptops are provided for instructional use by NJSD. Instructional media is always okay! * It is also okay to have a few personal pictures saved on your laptop for your desktop, screensavers, profile pics, etc. However, for example, your NJSD provided computer is NOT intended to permanently store 10GB (or more) of photos & videos from a 2014 family vacation.
Stay tuned...more to follow!
