Three Neenah Schools Earn Let's Move! Active Schools National Awards
< Back
Horace Mann and Shattuck Middle Schools and Spring Road Elementary School in Neenah were among 21 Wisconsin schools honored as Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award winners.
The award is the nation’s top physical education and physical activity distinction for K-12 schools. It celebrates a school’s commitment to providing students with at least 60 minutes of physical activity before, during and after school each day.
It marks the third straight year Horace Mann has won the award, making it the only Wisconsin school with that honor. Spring Road and Shattuck were recognized for the first time this year. Nationally, a total of 544 schools from 41 states and the District of Columbia were selected for the award.
To earn a Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award, a school must have met significant benchmarks in five areas: physical education; physical activity before and after school; physical activity during school; staff involvement; and family and community engagement. Each of the schools will receive a large display banner, certificate and congratulatory letter from First Lady Michelle Obama.
