After two or three days of WKCE testing, the students will get back into the routine of a regular schedule this week. Hopefully that means LOTS of reading.
*All students in reading intervention should be reading 20 - 30 minutes EVERY DAY. This reading could be coursework for a core class, newspaper articles (online or in print), or a book.
We will continue to work on before, during, and after reading strategies.
*Students are learning that they have to tune their minds into their topic before reading. They are asked to THINK while reading by performing some of the comprehension strategies we have discussed. And, after reading they need to show their understanding of the text through discussion, journaling, etc.
Students will also continue to create their Individual Learning Plans. Parents can expect these to come home when your child has completed his/hers. There is a component called "Parent Support" where your child has asked what he/she needs from you. There is also a "Parent's Comments" section at the bottom for your feedback to the plan. This plan will guide us through the quarter and is very important to the success of the students.
