The 2015/2016 school year brings a few new additions in the Taft Family, we have added a second 3rd grade classroom and two sessions (morning and afternoon) of 4K. We are also implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). This behavior system provides students with common expectations, rewards and consequences that apply to all areas of the school based on Respecting Self, Respecting Others, and Respecting Environment. Respecting self, others, and environment are known as the Timberwolf Way. We want our students to be respectful in all aspects as part of the Timberwolf family.
We are proud of our excellent teachers and support staff. Our focus is on student learning with an emphasis on reading and math. We have a full time literacy coach and math coach that works with both students and teachers to provide instruction that best fits students’ needs. Currently we have eleven classrooms, 250 students, two sections of 4-K through third grade, one fourth grade class and one fifth grade class. Taft offers art, music, wellness, library, band for 5th graders, and guidance. Students in grades 3-5 use iPads in the classroom and laptop carts are available for K-5. Students have choice of four lunch options each day; two hot options, salad, or peanut butter and jelly. Universal Free Breakfast is also provided to each student at no extra cost for kindergarten through fifth grade. The Taft PTO is focusing on rejuvenating both of our playgrounds. We appreciate their support and encourage parents to join.
