ORGANIZ ATIONS:

Latino Club will be meeting Friday, May 18, at 3:20 in room 320 to discuss the field trip.

 

 Are you interested in trying out for the Act II or Vintage band?  See Mr Dunning in room 169 for more information. Auditions will be held the week of May 21.

 

The next Anime Club meeting will be held on Monday, May 14 in the art room, room 408 after school.  Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the exciting world of Anime. 

 

The Neenah High School Key Club students are selling tickets for the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on Thursday May 24th. $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 10.

 


GENERAL:

 

Buy a Poppy to support our veterans! Today after school by door four and Thursday and Friday during all lunches!  If we can raise $150 by this Friday we will have a special musical performance during Friday's lunches with guest appearances by Sergio Flores! 

 

Come to the Student Art Show in the Armstrong Commons!

 

Seniors! It's time to sign up for the Senior Class Trip! You can sign up in the main office any time before May 18. The cost is $40.00, and you MUST sign up with the people you plan to sit with on the bus.

 

The National Honor Society will be hosting a Food Drive all this week (May 14th - 18th). Bring nonperishable food items to your first mod class, and a prize will be involved for the class with the most food items collected! Ravioli and canned fruit and veggies are needed most.

 

Applications are now available for summer jobs at the EAA. Limited applications are available in the main office, and applications may also be downloaded from their website (eaa.org) under Careers.

 

Do you ride the bus a lot in the summer? Purchase a Valley Transit Freedom Pass for only $40.00! You will get unlimited bus rides from June 1 - August 31 on all regular bus routes. Must be aged 5 - 18 to get this special pass. Purchase at any Valley Transit Ticket Outlet.

 

New this year -Rocket Banking! Associated Bank will donate money to our school district for each supporter who opens a Rockets Banking account. Get your Free Rockets Debit MasterCard!

 

All students should check their first class accounts for notification of overdue materials checked out BOTH through the NHS Library and the Armstrong Resource Center. Return those overdue books!!

Attention Freshmen and Sophomores: Check out the Upward Bound Program being held Tuesdays after school in the library, offering free tutoring and college planning. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

 

College/Military Visits

Army will be visiting NHS each first and third Tuesday of the month.  The first Tuesday of the month he will be here during A lunch and the third Tuesday of each month he will be here during B lunch. *Sign up in the guidance office to see any of these representatives.

Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for winning the Conference Championship last night! The boys took 6 out of the 7 individual titles on their path to victory. Way to go, Rockets!

 

Anyone interested in information about joining the cross country team should report to the Northwest corner of the field house after school on Friday, May 18 and pick up information about the sport and provide contact information. Once again if you are interested in cross country.... please report to the field house for a few moments to pick up some important information.

 

There will be an informational meeting for all girls interested in participating in swimming and diving next fall on Tuesday, May 22nd, at 6pm in the pool lobby.  The meeting is for parents and athletes.  If you have any questions, please speak to Coach Raeth.

 

Interested in being on the Girls Cross Country Team next fall? Come to an informational meeting on Friday, May 25 at 7:15 am in the Conant Little Theater.

 

Tickets are now on sale in Student Services for the Spring Sports and Drama Banquets. All Golf and Powerlifting tickets must be purchased by this Thursday, while all Tennis tickets must be purchased by next Wednesday! Stop in soon for your tickets!

Sports/Activity wrap up from last week:

The Neenah Baseball Team opened the week with an 8-6 win over Oshkosh North. The Girls Lacrosse Team went 1-1-1 at the Sun Prairie Invitational last week. The Rockets lost to Sun Prairie 11-3 and then beat Oregon 9-6 before tying La Crosse 4-4. The Rockets Softball Team went 2-2 for the week, beating Fond du Lac 13-5 and Menasha 2-1 in eight innings. The Rockets Boys Tennis Team cruised to three conference victories last week all by 7-0 scores. Neenah rolled past Menasha, Appleton North and Oshkosh West to improve to 8-0 in league play and hold a two-game lead over the rest of the conference in the FVA standings. Neenah Girls Track claimed the FVA Relays championship last week at Titan Stadium as the Rockets totaled 123 points to finish ahead of second place Kimberly.
