Family Fun Day - Things That Go!! is a brand new family fun day that will be held on Saturday, May 19, at Pierce Park in Appleton from 10-2. This event is meant to be a fun, educational, hands on learning experience for children and their families. So far we have recruited over 25 vehicles that will be parked, ready to climb on and explore. We'll have a Fire Truck, Police Bomb Squad, Ambulance, Snowplow, Garbage Truck, Cement Mixer, Motorcycle...just to name a few! We will also have live children's entertainers and food vendors on site. This event is being planned by the King's Daughters Charity Circle. We are a service group in the Fox Valley raising funds throughout the year for women and children at risk. Entrance fee is $4.00 per person and all the proceeds from this event will go to the Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Cities and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. For more info, please visit our website at www.facebook.com/ThingsthatGoFoxCities. Hope to see you on the 19th!

School Safety Drill - At Roosevelt and Alliance we take student and staff safety very seriously. We hold drills for many things, including fire drills, tornado drills and school safety drills. We practice these drills so that in the event of a real emergency, our students and staff are prepared and know what to do to stay safe.

On Tuesday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m., we will be holding a school safety drill. Students will be in lockdown mode for several minutes in their classrooms. Prior to the drill, we will be talking to the students so they understand the purpose of the drill and the seriousness of all safety drills. Please note that during the drill, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the school. (This includes parents and other guests.)

We thank you in advance for your support and working with us to keep our students and staff safe!

Alliance Keyboard Concert - Alliance will have our K-5 keyboard concert on Wednesday, May 23. The afternoon concert for the school and other guests begins at 2:00 p.m., and the evening concert for family and friends begins at 6:30 p.m.

Talent Show and Plant Sale - This year’s Talent Show is next Friday, May 25, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The students have been busy practicing their acts in order to share them with the school and guests. We look forward to this fun event!

In conjunction with the Talent Show we will again have a Plant sale to benefit the Rosy Garden at Island Shores. A variety of perennials and annuals will be available. Get a start on the gardening season and support our students. If you have questions or are interested in helping with potting up plants or setting up, please contact Joanna Morey at 751.8436 or jomo611@yahoo.com. Plants will be sold after the Talent Show through the end of Roosevelt’s school day.

Sock Hop and Used Book Sale - Be sure to have your calendars marked for our Sock Hop and Used Book Sale, to be held on Friday, June 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This year’s Sock Hop will have a Luau theme, so start planning your attire! :-) Coming home today with students is a flyer with information on the Used Book Sale. Watch for further details on both events as we get closer to June 1.

Help will be needed for various aspects of the Sock Hop and Used Book Sale. We will need help setting up for the Book Sale starting at 1:30 p.m. If you are able to help, please contact our reading teacher, Mrs. Monroe. We will then need help setting up for the Sock Hop at 2:30, during the Sock Hop with serving beverages and treats, and again after the Sock Hop with take down and clean up. If you can help with any of these areas, please contact the school office.

This should be a wonderful, fun night for everyone!

District Communication Survey - The Neenah Joint School District is seeking new and better ways to inform and engage all members of the district community. With this goal in mind, we are inviting district parents and community members to take a survey regarding the district's communications efforts. You can participate in the survey by going to http://www.NeenahSurvey.org, or visiting any of the district school offices to complete the paper version. The survey will be available from May 2nd through June 8th. Data from the survey will be used to develop a communications plan for the district, and to better inform the community of district happenings. If you have any questions, please contact the Donovan Group by phone at 888-352-1026, or by email at survey@donovan-group.com
