Volunteers are needed for the Human Growth and Development Advisory Committee of the
Neenah Joint School District. The work of the committee is set to begin during the summer of 2016. The main focus of this committee’s work is to review the district’s current human growth and development learning objectives, K-12, and recommend revisions (additions, deletions, combinations) that will promote the optimal health and well-being of the students of Neenah Joint School District. The learning objectives for human growth and development curriculum, grades kindergarten through 12, are a subset of the broader K-12 Health Curriculum.
Purpose:
* To review the human growth and development curriculum, K-12
* To advise the school board on the design and implementation of the human growth and development curriculum, K-12 Committee membership shall be comprised of:
* Parents, 20% of membership or greater
* Teachers, 20% of membership or less
* School administrators, 20% of membership or less
* Combined school personnel, spouses of school personnel, school board members, spouses of school board members may not exceed 25% of membership
* Students, 20% of membership or less
* Health care professionals, 20% of membership or less
* Members of the clergy, 20% of membership or less
* Other community members, 20% of membership or less
Commitment of Service:
* Attend one monthly meeting, no more than two hours in length
* Some outside of committee time to read, review, prepare for monthly agenda topics
* Willing to commit to at least one year of membership or until the time the Board hears and approves the committee’s final recommendations
Structure of meetings:
* Facilitated by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
* Open meeting regulations apply to all committee meetings
* Posted meetings
* Each meeting will begin with open forum
* Community members, including BOE members, may participate in open forum only
