< Back
Neenah High School senior Adelle Sturgell has been selected as a Herb Kohl Excellence Scholarship recipient for her exceptional scholarship, leadership, citizenship and school and community involvement.
Sturgell will receive a $3,000 award and will be honored at a regional luncheon on April 16 at Kimberly High School.
The daughter of Jeffrey and Dina Sturgell, Adelle carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average while taking a full schedule of advanced classes. She participates in Key Club and debate and is a member of the Touch of Class orchestra. She was recently named a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship and was among the Neenah High School students who participated in a Habitat for Humanity project during the summer of 2014. Sturgell is undecided on her post-high school plans for next fall.
Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve, displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting and shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.
The Kohl Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship program was established by retired U.S. Senator Herb Kohl in 1990. To date the foundation has awarded $9 million to Wisconsin educators, students and schools.
