The Neenah Joint School District is seeking individuals to serve on the inaugural selection committee and Board of Directors for its newly formed Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was approved by the Board of Education at its March 4, 2014 meeting and the first class will be inducted during Homecoming weekend in 2015. Neenah’s Hall of Fame will be unique from many other school districts in that it will recognize individuals in all achievement categories, as well as encompass all alumni and former employees.
A 15-member committee is needed for the challenging task of helping to select the Hall of Fame classes. The committee will consist of five administrators or district employees, five alumni from different generations and five “at-large” members. Committee members will each serve a three-year term. The desire is to create a committee that reflects a wide variety of interests, ages and backgrounds.
The Hall of Fame committee will conduct regular meetings throughout the year to discuss nominees and plan a recognition banquet. The committee will begin meeting in the summer of 2014 and meeting dates will be determined well in advance. A public request for Hall of Fame nominees will begin this summer and final selections will be made by the committee by March 2015.
Interested individuals must be able to attend most or all meetings, have a passion for the Neenah Joint School District, be open-minded to considering nominees from different eras and backgrounds and assist with planning and fundraising for the recognition banquet.
Anyone interested in serving on the committee or with questions should contact Jim Strick in the District communications office at 751-6800 x225 or by e-mail at jstrick@www.neenah.k12.wi.us by May 2, 2014.
Individuals interested in serving on the committee should indicate their background with the Neenah Joint School District, including (if applicable) year graduated from Neenah, how long lived in Neenah and what programs most involved with as a student, parent, coach, teacher, booster or fan.
