Neenah will make is 26th trip to the WIAA state tournament March 14-15 as the Rockets dismantled Marshfield 54-31 in the sectional championship game on Saturday at Wausau West High School.
Neenah’s 26 trips to state are the second-most of any school in the state behind Superior Central’s 27 appearances. The Rockets led by as many as 33 points in their sectional title game victory and got 24 points and 11 rebounds from junior Matt Heldt.
Neenah will face last year’s state runner-up, Mukwonago, in the second Division 1 semifinal on Friday night at the Kohl Center in Madison. Two-time defending champion Germantown plays Milwaukee King in the first game of the session at 6:30 p.m. The winners play for the state title on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. as Neenah seeks its first title since 1978.
Tickets for the games will go on sale to the general public on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the ticket booth window outside the Ron Einerson Fieldhouse at Neenah High School. The public may enter through Door 4. Tickets will also be sold in the high school office Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-noon and 1:30-4:30 p.m. each day.
Adults are limited to four tickets each and students are limited to one ticket each. Adult tickets are reserved seating and students are general admission. All tickets are $10 each. Tickets may also be ordered online on the WIAA website, but cost $12 apiece and will not be in the Neenah section. Please note that tickets will not be held for anyone and must be purchased in person.
