Wilson Elementary School in Neenah has been named one of seven “Program of Promise” award winners by the Wisconsin School Counselor Association (WSCA).
The award is the highest recognition that a comprehensive school counseling program can receive from the WSCA. School counselors submit a Wisconsin School Counseling Program Accountability Report highlighting their data driven program, student results in the career, academic and social emotional domains and school climate and safety. The peer reviewed report must meet and exceed stringent content standards for award consideration. The reports are reviewed once per year by a panel of school counseling professionals.
“This recognition of our school counselor, Steph Levine-Rankin, is a testament to the hard work and dedication she puts into data driven best practices every day at Wilson Elementary,” said Wilson principal Ryan Hammerschmidt. “Her dedication to the students and the development of the counseling program at Wilson and the strong gains she is able to show our students making in a variety of areas are highly recognizable.”
Levine-Rankin connects families to resources, including the weekend “Snack Pack” program, the “Wilson Wardrobe,” holiday giving programs, identification and case management for homeless families, assistance with transportation and access to mental health services. Over the past year, Wilson students who were knowledgeable about the school-wide behavior expectations rose from 17 percent to 92 percent.
Other winners were Burlington High School, Willow River Elementary School in Hudson, Shady Lane and Valley View Elementary Schools in Menomonee Falls, Forest Park Middle School in Franklin and Sheboygan Falls Elementary/Middle School.
