Three Neenah Students Earn National Merit Commendation

Three Neenah High School seniors have been named commended students for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.
Alex Monson, Michael Strey and John Zwick all earned the commendation for their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, the students are among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the qualifying test.
Monson is the son of Robert and Katherine Monson. Strey is the son of David and Diane Strey, while Zwick is the son of Kenneth Zwick and Carol Hollar-Zwick.
The National Merit Scholar Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. It was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by the corporation with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share its goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
