A longtime area youth soccer coach, Brian Ross has been named the head coach of the Neenah High School boys varsity program. Ross takes over one of the state’s winningest programs that has never had a losing season and three state championships.
Ross has coached area youth teams at all levels and worked as a private trainer for the past 15 years. Ross tutored several players who have gone on to play collegiate soccer. A former Appleton East High School standout, Ross is the school's all-time leading scorer and was a three-time all-FVA and two-time all-state selection. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in applied mathematics. Ross has assisted as a coach at UW-Oshkosh youth soccer camps.
Ross owns a real estate business in the Fox Valley and is still an active participate in a local adult league, serving as league commissioner.
He inherits a program that has the second-most state tournament appearances with 16 all-time and titles in 1985, 1986 and 2007. Neenah also won 28 Fox Valley Association titles under Harry Kelderman, who coached 36 years from 1980-2015. Ross replaces Nate Werner, who coached the Rockets to a 10-6-2 record last fall.
“The standard set by Mr. Kelderman with this program is an immense responsibility that I take very seriously,” Ross said. “Neenah soccer has long been known for their excellence and quality of play on the field. I look forward to meeting the players this August at tryouts and look forward to a successful season this fall.”
