Health Screenings Information and Signup Open

NJSD Staff with WPS/Arise Health Insurance for 2017 may now register all adults (18+) on your plan for your free 2017 Health Screening at NJSD. Prevea Health Coaches will be providing 15-minute appointments that include a measure for height, weight, blood pressure, a finger stick blood draw and a brief coaching session. There are many dates and locations to choose from including each of our buildings and the Wellness Center. You do not have to bring anything to your visit or submit anything after.
You and adults on your plan may otherwise go you a primary care doctor or another healthcare provider. You will need to bring necessary forms to these visits and submit them after your appointment. You are responsible for any fees you may incur. There will be a $35 fee if you do not show for your scheduled appointment.

Homebound and Tutoring Instructors Needed
|
The district is always looking for certified teachers who are willing to provide more individualized instruction to some of our more needy students. If you are interested in some extra flexible hours and some extra pay, let us know below how you might be willing to help!
As many of you are aware, every year:
1. the District provides homebound services to a small number of our students who are medically unable to attend school; and
2. some parents seek out tutoring services for their child to supplement the school instruction they receive.
The Pupil Services Office maintains and annually updates the lists of people who are willing to provide such services to our students. However, in the past, these lists have only included people who are on the district’s substitute teacher list. By doing so, we are eliminating from consideration our best resources – you! If you would like more information and are willing to provide either tutoring or homebound instruction to some of our students, please click this link.

Wisconsin Public Television Focusing on Neenah
|
Wisconsin Public Television is currently creating Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Neenah-Menasha, a one-hour documentary celebrating the history of our communities. The stories paint a picture of our history, attractions, and people.
Educators are welcome to use materials from Wisconsin Hometown Stories for lessons and engagement. In order to better determine what teachers would like to use from the documentary, Wisconsin Public Television's education team would like to know what you would like us to include in this curriculum so that it can best serve your students’ needs.
An educator team is also being assembled to help create the curriculum and engagement materials. If you’d like to be on the team or provide feedback on the curriculum, be sure to sign-up in the survey!
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here.
For an example of a previous documentary and what materials are available, click here to access a recently-released documentary about Door County.

Humana Vitality Changes for 2017
|
Two important items for NJSD staff members on the District insurance plan:
1. Humana Vitality bucks should be claimed by December 31, 2016 as the program will be switching to Go365 under the umbrella of the School District on January 1, 2017. You will still carry over 10 percent of your points earned during 2016 on January 1.
2. Adult dependents on your insurance plan will still need to complete the health assessment and biometric screening in order to maintain lower rates. However, these screenings for adult dependents will not earn points toward the Vitality/Go365 program. In its place, all adults will earn 1,250 points for their first verified workout.

Field Trip Reminder for Staff
|
Please remember to notify your school’s Health Assistant or Administrative Assistant of any upcoming field trips at least two weeks prior to the field trip. This allows the Health Assistant or Administrative Assistant time to prepare any medications and health plans that may need to be sent along with the teacher on the field trip. It also allows the District Registered Nurses time to plan for students who have more extensive medical needs that may require closer supervision by a parent or trained staff member.

Wellness Coordinator Moving On: NJSD will be hiring a new District Wellness Coordinator for the New Year as Kelly Kelderman will be moving on to become the Wellness Administrator of Oshkosh Corporation. Kelly wants to thank you for your engagement in the wellness program, your positivity, and shared she will miss many of the great relationships she has built here in her four years at NSJD. See below for her words of wisdom.
Please remember to take care of yourselves. Circumstances and our environment affect us, but we are ultimately in charge of our lives. When we prioritize ourselves, we are better at every role in our lives (employee, coworker, mother/father, daughter/son, sibling, pet owner, community member, and friend). Spend your time and energy on who and what is most important in your life. Push pause. Breathe. Create healthy habits and let go of routines that don't add fulfillment.
Create a dash you are proud of. Click here to view watch the dash video. You will be happy you took 3 minutes out of your day to do so.
