Neenah's girls tennis team made its third consecutive appearance in the WIAA Division 1 state championship match and fell just short of its second straight title in a 4-3 loss to Homestead on Oct. 22 in Madison. It was the fifth runner-up trophy for the Rockets, who won their only state championship in 2015. Neenah reached the title match with a 6-1 win over Pulaski in the quarterfinals and a 5-2 triumph over Eau Claire Memorial in the semifinals. The Rockets finished the season 15-4 overall under head coach Kelly Van Handel, who has guided the team to the FVA title and a state tournament appearance in each of her five seasons.
Team members who competed at the state tournament were: seniors Jordyn Lawatsch, Ellie Callahan, and Christina Price, juniors Hannah Dorsey, Kiki Risgaard, Grace Hackinson, Amanda Dorsey and Mairin Kearny and sophomores Anna Beyer and Ava Asbury.
