Roekle Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Neenah High School senior Ryan Roekle has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.
Roekle earned the honor for his performance among than 1.6 million students nationwide who entered the 2017 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
A total of 16,000 semifinalists were named nationwide, representing less than one percent of high school seniors. Roekle is vying for one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, which total about $33 million. Final scholarship awards will be announced next spring.
Roekle is the son of Scott and Kristi Roekle and attended Coolidge Elementary School. He owns a 3.89 grade point average while taking a schedule that includes several advanced classes. Roekle performs with the Touch of Class orchestra and was named an Advanced Placement Scholar With Honor last spring.
The National Merit Scholar Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. It was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by the corporation with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share its goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
