A review of the 2017-18 staffing proposal and budget framework were discussed at the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education meeting on Feb. 21.
The Board reviewed the staffing proposal that included a 2.08 FTE increase for certified staff and a 3.73 FTE increase for non-certified staff. The Board will vote on the staffing proposal at its March 7 meeting.
The budget framework is an early look at the budget for 2017-18 with the first draft coming in late April or early May. Among the variables that could affect the budget are state funding and anticipated enrollment changes. Part of the budget framework included an expanded mental health initiative at the elementary level. Portions of the program could be funded through a potential grant from the Appleton Community Foundation.
The Board approved early authorization for five summer maintenance projects, including roofs at Neenah High School and Hoover, the parking lot at Clayton, the boiler system in the high school Armstrong wing and windows in the west wing classrooms at Shattuck.
In action items, the Board approved the retirement of Taft Educational Assistant Cheryl Bushman, effective at the end of the 2017-18 school year and Shattuck teacher Jordon Schreiner, effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
