NJSD Students Participating in "Hour of Code" Dec. 4-10

Neenah students will be among over 100 million students globally who will participate in an "Hour of Code" during the week of Dec. 4-10. The event is part of Computer Science Education Week. All eleven Neenah Joint School District (NJSD) schools with students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade are participating.
The Hour of Code is organized by the nonprofit Code.org and over 100 others. It is a global movement that believes students today are ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success.
"We live in a world surrounded by technology," said NJSD Director of Curriculum and Instruction Susan Hull. "Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet. Whichever pathway our students choose - college, technical college, career or military - their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. That’s why all NJSD students in grades kindergarten through grade six are joining in on the largest learning event in history, Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week."
NJSD is also supporting the learning of how technology works with kindergarten through fifth grade students by beginning implementation of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch in our elementary schools. At each grade level, PLTW Launch includes one computer science module to help students understand how technology works.
