After 18 years of teaching in the Neenah Joint School District, Amy Schumacher has been named the principal at Clayton Elementary School.
Schumacher will replace Amy McKeefry, who has been at Clayton the past two years and accepted an administrative position in the Seymour School District. Schumacher’s transition is pending Board of Education approval.
Since coming to Neenah, Schumacher has taught her entire career at Tullar Elementary. She is currently teaching third grade and previously taught kindergarten. With Board approval, Schumacher will officially begin her duties at Clayton on Sept. 28.
“Amy has a passion for learning and is committed to our District,” said superintendent Dr. Mary Pfeiffer. “We’re proud that we have the opportunity to hire such a highly-qualified individual from within our own District.”
Schumacher has been a forerunner in the use of technology in the classroom, particularly the Schoology learning management system. She presented on personalized learning at the Schoology national convention this past summer in Chicago. Schumacher also presented at the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association conference in March about her implementation of a “Genius Hour” that allowed her third graders to explore their passions and encouraged creativity.
Schumacher earned a Bachelor’s degree from Drake University and a Master’s degree from Viterbo University. She completed her principal license from Viterbo in May 2016. She has four children who attend Neenah schools in grades 4-9.
